I have a specific kind of crush on homemade crackers…I can give you 3 reasons why I love them – they’re easy to make, they require little time for preparation and basically I can put all my favorite stuff there (hm, well…except chocolate, but that’s another thing).
The ultimate crackers recipe that I found is working every time is 100 gr flour and 40 gr butter, alternatively I’m sharing with you one recipe with olive oil which I use to call “greek style” recipe.
Let’s roll up the sleeves! Here are my top 3 crackers recipes.
Parmesan Thyme crackers
- 150gr flour
- 60gr parmesan cheese
- 60gr butter, melted
- 5 tbs heavy cream
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp dry minced garlic
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp sumac
Multi-seed crackers
- 100gr flour
- 40gr butter
- 1 tbs water
- 2 tbs mixed seeds (flax, sunflower, sesame, cumin and poppy seeds)
- 1 tsp salt
Greek style crackers
- 150gr emmer flour
- 75gr wheat flour
- 120ml water
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1 tbs sunflower seeds
- 1 tbs rosemary, chopped
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Method
The steps are similar for each recipe. Preheat the oven to 150*C (300* F).
In a small bowl mix dry ingredients. Add the rest and knead until you get firm texture.
Place the dough between two pieces of plastic wrap and roll out until 3mm (1/8”) thick.
Cut shapes using a cookie cutters or knife and transfer on a baking paper.
Bake for 10mins or until slightly golden around edges.
Voilà!
